Yes, you got that right! Its Gram Flour or Besan.

Out of its abundant uses that your grandmother and your mother have told you or may not have told you, some of them are –

  • To remove oiliness – Besan can be a very essential and vital ingredient in removing the oils which accumulate around your T-zones or all over your face. Too much oil is not good for your face as it can create sebum accumulations which can eventually cause too many pimples and acne to control. So as to clear it up and control it from further growing, mix 2 teaspoons of besan with raw milk or yoghurt(dahi) and apply the paste on your face. After it dries rinse it with water.
  • To fight pimples – Its always a pain to have a pimple on your face just before the best days of your life are about to come, or its your first appearance somewhere. To avoid it on a permanent basis its best to keep your face healthy and acne free. For this mix 2 teaspoons of besan with 2 teaspoons of sandalwood powder, 1 teaspoon of milk and a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply to your face and rinse when it naturally dries. Washing with cold water is essential as this mixture clears the dirt in the pores and the cold water help close and tighten the pores.
  • To exfoliate – It is always necessary to exfoliate dead skin cells from your skin as it keeps the skin healthy, glowing and dirt free. More the dead skin cells, more the dullness. To exfoliate using natural ingredients, mix 3 teaspoons of besan with 1 teaspoon of grounded oats, 1 teaspoon of corn flour with the required amount of milk to make it into a paste. Apply all over your hands and legs and start rubbing gently so as to remove the dead skin cells. Go in with circular motions for about 5 minutes and rinse with cold water. The texture of the mixture will be a bit grainy, but thats because thats is what will help remove the stubborn dead cells. Cold water, because it will tighten the pores, making it less possible for dirt to accumulate.
  • To remove unwanted facial hair – Nobody likes hair on their face. Women and young ladies are already frustrated with getting waxed all over their arms and legs to woo men and boys, but getting facial hair waxed is painful and can leave marks on sensitive skin. To remove unwanted facial hair naturally, mix 1 teaspoon methi or fenugreek powder to 1 teaspoon besan and mix with water to make a paste.Apply it to your skin and wash it off when the skin dries naturally. Follow this twice a week to get the best results.
  • To grow healthier hair – A lot of people complain about not having healthy hair, complain of having split ends, rough hair, frizziness and what not. And what they are advised it to go to a salon and get some keratin or some hair packs which cost a lot. So why not try something which is natural and might make your hair healthy without weighing heavily on your pockets. Mix 2 teaspoons of besan, 1 egg white, 1 teaspoon yoghurt(dahi) and 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice. Apply this mixture on your hair and gently rinse it off with cold water. Follow this twice a week and start getting results in two months.
  • To clear acne scars – So you all might also know that after the pimples are all gone some of them leave scars behind because they might have been popped or they might just have been chemically treated to be removed. But the scars remain. So what to do now? Mix 1 teaspoon of besan, a pinch of turmeric powder and 2 teaspoons of fresh milk. Apply the mixture on your face and rinse when it naturally dries. Your face will start clearing up slowly and gradually and will glow more than ever.
  • To treat dry flaky skin – Mix 2-3 drops of lemon juice with 1 teaspoon of besan, 1 teaspoon of milk cream and 1/2 teaspoon of honey. Apply it all over your face and rinse when naturally dries.

To store besan –

  • Store it in an airtight container and keep in a cool place.
  • Do not use wet spoon into the mixture as it creates formation of lumps.
  • Include besan for your daily health regime for a better skin and hair.
